Even if you’ve been lazy and only gone to the forums, you will have noticed the difference and all the threads telling you about our new site.

Now, if you haven’t had a chance to look round, how many of you have thought, great, it’s a new site, but how does it really benefit me except more bugs and a new slim look!? Firstly, just make sure your not in punching distance of Carl or Olly, because OMG their is SO much benefit for you, it’s really unbelievable how much we have been depriving you over the last 5 years.

Well start with

MyINX

MyINX is a unique login system for all INX systems. Can you remember when you used to have to remember the billing link, support link and the panel link, and as if that wasn’t enough, you had to remember the different usernames and passwords. Well not anymore, with MyINX, it is a simple one click log in to any of the INX Services. No need to remember your billing pass, just log in and click billing. How much easier could it get? Not much im glad to say! So, if your not already signed up, do I have to say it… I hope not but I will anyway, What are you waiting for?

Knowledge Base

Now, I know we’ve already had a knowledge base, so your probably thinking, ohh, just get on with it your boring me to death, it’s same old same old. But oh no, not this knowledge base, in the famous words of M & S, “This is not just any old Knowledge Base, this is an INX, advanced and edited my professionals regularly knowledge base.” Go and take a look, you’ll be surprised at it’s tidyness and effectiveness.

Staff Blog

Well, your reading this, so you’ve obviously seen the new look to our staff blog and our integration with the new site. So, what do you think? We think it’s just what the doctor ( or in our case Olly) ordered. Now unfortunately, with great power, comes great responsibility, so that meas myself, Olly, Carl and John are going to have to entertain you with our terrible stories.

About Us

So what? Every GSP has an About Us page, so what makes INX special? Well that’s exactly it. What makes us different from every one else? Not sure, head over to the About Us page and find out, it contains, why you should you use us, why our existing customers chose us. Our setup, what makes us superior to other GSP’s and our hand built control panel. Then take a look at our panel with a tour create by no one other than the creator.

More to Come

Now, we don’t want you to get your knickers in a twist, so were releasing bits at a time. There is still plenty to come, so don’t worry, your not missing out. Upcoming features include the new and improved Download Core and an impressive ….. , now that would be telling now wouldn’t it and we can’t have any of that!

So in the famous words of Julias Ceaser, or as of now Olly, “Veni, Vidi, Vici – I came, I saw, I conquered”

That’s all for now but don’t blink, or you might miss something.

Setting up a 24/7 Surf Server http://www.inx-gaming.com/gaming-blog/tutorials/setting-up-a-247-surf-server/ http://www.inx-gaming.com/gaming-blog/tutorials/setting-up-a-247-surf-server/#comments Tue, 19 Feb 2008 15:44:34 +0000 admin http://www.inx-gaming.co.uk/gaming-blog/tutorials/setting-up-a-247-surf-server/ Continue reading ]]> Hi Guys,

Recently, there have been an increase in 24/7 surf servers. A few of our customers are wanting to set up a 24/7 surf server. So I am writing this to help them out, as there isn’t that much info on the net.

First of all, we need to know how to add maps to our server and how to edit our mapcycle.txt. This can be learnt here

Now that we have the maps we want. We need to upload them. Follow the tutorial above to add maps. You also need to edit your mapcycle.txt because you will need to remove all the standard maps and add your custom maps. Now that you have done this. We need to change the startup map. To do this, go to “Startline Editor, now in the box, type the name of the map you want as your startup map.

Now that this is done. We are almost finished, we now just need to add one more line to server.cfg. This line is

sv_airaccelerate 100

This is the key line to a surf server. Without this you will NOT be able to surf. Once that is done, restart the server. Now make sure the server comes back online. If it doesn’t, start from the begining. If it still doesn’t come back up. Try the “Fix me” tool, and if that doesn’t work. Please submit a support ticket.

Once your server has come back online. You are ready to get underway.

Congratulations on your 24/7 Surf Server.

INX-Gaming Tutorial – Adding Maps to Your Server HL/HL2 Style http://www.inx-gaming.com/gaming-blog/tutorials/inx-gaming-tutorial-adding-maps-to-your-server-hlhl2-style/ http://www.inx-gaming.com/gaming-blog/tutorials/inx-gaming-tutorial-adding-maps-to-your-server-hlhl2-style/#comments Fri, 25 Jan 2008 16:35:12 +0000 admin http://www.inx-gaming.co.uk/gaming-blog/tutorials/inx-gaming-tutorial-adding-maps-to-your-server-hlhl2-style/ Continue reading ]]> This tutorial is going to teach you how to upload maps to your HL/Hl2 Server. If your not sure that your game comes under this category, the following games can follow this tutorial.

This tutorial is going to be used with a Counter Strike Source Server, the file directory’s are almost exact as well as the files that need to be uploaded but there are some changes between the amount of files for Half Life and Half Life 2.

So, lets get down to buisness, lets find the maps that you want. For this tutorial we are going to be using the map aim_ag_texture. Firstly, we need to open up FTP and connect to our server. Were going to be using Smart FTP for this tutorial.

Your FTP Username is your panel username, the same for your password. The Host, is the IP of your server. Remember not to add the port (the bit after the “:”) The port, should be already be set as 21, if not change it to 21. Connect to your server. Once you have connected, you will be presented with some files and folders. We want the folder called, srcd_l (for Half Life Games) and srcds_l (for Half Life 2 games). In that folder, there will be another folder called cstrike. Open this folder. You will then be presented with some more folders and files. One will be called maps, this is the folder that we want. The end file path should look like this, “/srcds_l/cstrike/maps” If you are in this file path, you are in the right place. Now to add the map to your server, all we need to do is upload it. To do this, the best way is to copy and paste the files from the download. Another way is to just drag them. You must upload the .bsp, .nav and if it comes with it a .txt file. Now that the files are uploaded, all you need to do now is restart your server.

After you have restarted your server. You are all done.

INX Gaming Tutorial – Setting and Managing Mani Admin Plugin http://www.inx-gaming.com/gaming-blog/tutorials/inx-gaming-tutorial-setting-and-managing-mani-admin-plugin/ http://www.inx-gaming.com/gaming-blog/tutorials/inx-gaming-tutorial-setting-and-managing-mani-admin-plugin/#comments Sat, 20 Oct 2007 15:53:55 +0000 admin http://www.inx-gaming.co.uk/gaming-blog/tutorials/inx-gaming-tutorial-setting-and-managing-mani-admin-plugin/ Continue reading ]]> This tutorial will be helping you to set up Mani Admin Plugin using our Panel, not manually. So for dedicated customers, unless you have our panel installed on your box, I’m afraid you can’t use this tutorial.

Right, lets get down to business. Lets login to the panel. Once logged into the panel, make sure your game server is online. Once logged in, we need to go to ‘Mod Central’. Once there, you should fine a page like this. Now, you will see that Mani Admin is the top option, this is kept up to date on the latest version. Click Install. It may take a while to insatll, once done, you will be presented with this page. As it suggests, restart your server. If there are people playing on your server and you don’t want to disturb them, you can click ‘Go Back’ and wait for the map to change. Once you click on ‘Restart Server’ You will be told when the server has been restarted. Now click on home, check the status of your server, it will proberbly say offline, don’t worry, refresh your page every 10 seconds or so and it should change to ‘Online’. If it doesn’t come back ‘Online’ within 5 minutes, please try the ‘Fix Me’ Button. If this doesn’t work, please contact INX Technical Support.

Now, Mani Admin should be installed on your server, we are going to use HLSW to check. As you can see, it has been succesfully installed and running.

Now, if you know how to edit Mani, you can stop here. If you need to know how to -

 • Set Up Admins
 • Add Adverts

You need to continue. Firstly, we will set up admins. To do this, we need to go to the ‘File Editor’. and you need your steam ID. To get your Steam ID, type status in console while connected to a server. Then find your name, next to it, the will be somthing like this. STEAM:_0:0:12345. In ‘File Editor’ we need to find adminlist.txt, but it will proberbly be written as adminlist.txt.old, this is what were going to look for. This file is about 3/4 of the way down the page. Once you have found the file, click ‘Edit’. You will be presented with a blank page, fill it in like this. Now let me explain it. Name it somthing as a backup, so if you make a mistake in the future, you can go straight back to one that works. Enter your steam ID without the STEAM:_ , once that is done, if you have a few admins, you might want to name the Steam ID’s so you know who’s they are. Like I have done, add a few spaces and use //, this means Mani won’t read it. Now restart your server for the changes to take affect. To use Mani amin, you need to type “admin” in console.

Adding Adverts. This couldn’t be simpilar. Again, we need to use ‘File Editor’. The file we need is adverts.txt. As above, click ‘Edit’. You will be presented with this. Edit the file how you like, starting with a colour in ‘{}’. Now Save the file and restart the server.

This is the end of the tutorial.

Hope This Helps!

This tutorial will be ‘Setting Up A Clan Website, Using Webspell CMS ‘, I may release some other CMS’ tutorial that people can use.

If you need to know how to setup your free INX Web Hosting click here.

If you need to know how to use FTP, please use this link.

Right, lets get to business. Firstly we need to download the CMS, the link you need is here (I will try to keep this link updated as much as possible but this may not be the latest version.) Now that we have the CMS downloaded, we need to upload it to our web hosting. We will use ftp for this, as there are a lot of files. The details you need for FTP are:

FTP Host : Your free sub-domain.

FTP User : Your FTP Username (Usually your Control Panel Username).

FTP Pass: Usually the same password for your INX Control Panel.

Once you have logged in, you should have something that looks like this. Now to show the CMS, the files must be in the public_html folder, so double click on it. Now lets upload them to the site. This can normally be done by a simple click and drag. So open the folder you downloaded, extract the files, and select all, click and drag on to the server. Now go may yourself a cup of tea and eat some biscuits as this takes a while. Once that is done, you should now have something looking like this.

*If your FTP looks like this, then your on the right track. Now we need to chmod some files (Give Permissions). I will teach you how to do one file and then you can do it to the list of files than you need to do it to.

How we ChMOD a file is like this. Long into cPanel and go to File Manager. If it comes up with a popup, just say ‘OK’. Now you should see all the files you just uploaded using FTP. There will be a file called install. Were going to chmod this file. Click on the file and then go to the top of the browser, there will be a key with the words, ‘Change Permissions’ click this. There will be a pop up that comes up. Tick the two boxes that are unchecked on the boxes on the popup, make sure that the number say 777. Click OK, you have successfully, CHMOD’ a file to 777. Now you need to do it to all these files.

Some of these files may already be CHMOD’ to 777. Just leave them as they are. Now that this is done, we are ready to install. To Install you need to go to http://yourfreesubdomain.inx-gaming.co.uk/install/index.php.

You should now be confronted with a page that looks like this. If not go back to the * and try again. Now we need to setup a MySQL Database. To do this, we need to go to the MySQL Wizard. This is about 3/4 of the way down your main cPanel Page. Once there you should get a page that looks like this. First we need to create a Database. Fill in the new database field with a sensible name like cms, then click ‘Create Database’. Once that is done, we need to create a user. Pick a suitable username and a strong password. Then click ‘Create User’. Now we need to add the User to the Database. This is done by selecting the Database and Username from the Drop Down Menu. Once you have both selected, click Submit. This will bring you to a page asking what privileges you want to give the Account, select All Privileges Then click, ‘Make Changes’. You will now have your MySQL Database and MySQL User.

Now lets get back to installing the CMS. Lets go back to http://yourfreesubdomain.inx-gaming.co.uk/install/index.php. Click Continue, then read through the Terms and Conditions. Accept if you wish to, if you don’t please do not read on. Once you have accepted. You should get a page saying, ‘ Please enter the url where webspell should be installed
http://195.242.236.16′ If so, click Continue. Now Scroll down to the bottom of the page, if in green you have the words, ‘Successfully done!’ Click Continue. Make sure, New Installation is selected and click Continue. Now you will need to fill in the MySQL Data, the data should be like s:

Host Name: localhost MySQL User Name: Your username, then the name of the User (E.g gsdemo_cms , if you did what I suggested earlier) MySQL Password: YourMySQL User password.
MySQL Database Name: Same as the username, Your control panel username first then the Database name. Leave MySQL Table Prefix as it is, (webs_)

Now you need to fill in the Admin data. Make sure you know this as you can’t edit your CMS without it, make sure the email is valid.

Now we do as it says, we need to delete the install file and CHMod the file back to 644. We can do this via cPanel file manager again. To delete the install file. Click on it and click delete. To change the permissions to 644, do as we did earlier, but change the number manually to 6 4 4.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. I will release another tutorial for editing the CMS soon.

If you have any Problems please email me.
