Quake Sounds on Counterstrike Source game servers

We all love shooting someone in the head and hearing the echoing words:

HEADSHOT!!!!111

Those that used to play on Unreal Tournament servers will remember fondly the bunny hopping, the unleashing of a missile followed by the epic shout of:

M M M M MONSTER KILL!!!!

We are blessed that Quake Sounds also work on Counterstrike Source game servers through the popular addon Manimod. And in just a few steps you can have them configured. Here’s how.

1. Upload Quake Sounds to your Counterstrike Source server

If you already have an INX game server, Quake Sounds will already be uploaded. Useful eh?

If not, they need to go into the following folder:

/cstrike/sound/quake/

You should upload these using your favourite FTP program.

2. Enable Quake Sounds

Again, on your FTP look for the following file:

cstrike/cfg/mani_quake_sounds.cfg

In this file, you should set the following parameter for Quake Sounds to work on your CS Source server:

mani_quake_sounds 1

3. Adding quakesoundlist.txt

Again, if you have an INX gameserver, quakesoundlist.txt will already be there. Useful again eh? ;)

If not, you can find this from the Quake Sounds download on the Manimod website.

This file needs to be in the following directory:

cstrike/cfg/mani_admin_plugin/

4. Activate Quake Sounds on your Counterstrike Source gameserver

We’re almost there. Locate the following file on your game server:

/srcds_l/cstrike/cfg/mani_server.cfg

Make sure the following is set:

exec mani_quake_sounds.cfg

5. We’re done- restart your gameserver!

Finally, for the settings to take effect, you need to restart your game server. INX customers can do this on our control panel.

Not working? Leave a comment below or raise a support ticket. Otherwise, Fingers crossed, Quake Sounds should now be running on your Counterstrike Source game server! :)

Team Fortress 2 game servers for me?

Ok, here’s the deal. I’ve been so busy with work recently (read support tickets) that the only time I do get to game, its a session with Fifa 2010. Or Tekken 10. At the weekend, on the horrible Xbox 360 console. Which really isn’t good for the Managing Director of INX-Gaming, a game server provider, is it? :(

There was a time where I would play CS 1.6 for 15 hours a day (and in between answering tickets). We are going back 6,7,8 (I forget) years here. And then came CSS. Then Call of Duty 4. All big FPS games I didn’t half get into and waste some time on.

But then we really grew, and support became rather busy, as did running the company. And as a consequence I just haven’t had the time to devote to online gaming. After a prolonged period of what I call ‘Windows illness’ I lost my rag with the freezes, and blue screens. And I bought a MacBook. The final nail in the coffin. And really, you can’t play games on a Mac. I feel guilty…..dirty even.

So while setting up an office at home, I’ve decided to put aside a nice budget (read Christmas present to oneself) for a PC gaming rig. Woo :)

Now if I’m going to spend £700-£800 on a decent PC setup, I really need to find some decent games and game servers to play on.

COD4 is really over done for me. Lot’s of time spent on that. I’ve spent so much time on Counterstrike source servers that it would be like taking up an old heroin habit. Not a good idea.

There’s also the consideration that with not much time, we are talking 30 mins here and there for a gaming fix. Let’s face it, if you are going to play Call of Duty 4, or CSS, it’s to be competitive. Or maybe that’s just me?

What game fills that void?

And then I thought….Team Fortress 2. TF2 with it’s cartoony exterior. The laid back atmosphere on the servers. I reckon before people play on Team Fortress 2 servers, they *have* to have a crate of lager next to them. It’s the law don’t you know?

It suits me down to the ground. So as of tomorrow, I might just give Team Fortress 2 game servers a go. Well it can’t harm to form another addiction can it?

What do you guys think?

Counterstrike Source game servers – half price

Here at INX we have a little bit of an offer on this week for CSS Servers. COD6 MW2 might be what a lot of gamers are playing at the moment, but we think that’ll wear off. The lack of mods, the lack of proper servers. The lack of admins and the lack of low ping game servers. Well, the list goes on. We believe we shouldn’t forget the best games. Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 4 and Counterstrike 1.6. The games you can actually map and mod. The games where the people that make them, listen to those that pay for the game.

Counterstrike Source is still by far the most popular game server sold, and there are more Counterstrike Source servers online than any other game server.

So, in celebrating that fact we’re offering Counterstrike Source Game servers at half price. To take advantage of this offer, please contact our sales department.

This great offer on Counterstrike Source game servers ends on midnight of 30th November- don’t miss out!

Game servers for Left 4 Dead 2 are go!

After much anger and threats to boycott Left 4 Dead 2, the Left 4 Dead demo was released last night.

Delay after delay-those that had pre-ordered were told to wait another hour over and over again. To much anger- I mean anger.

Anyway, at least the demo was released with dedicated server files, eh IW?

After the let down of Call of Duty 6 (and if you haven’t read about that, just Google) it was nice to see Valve supporting their new games with dedicated servers. Giving the PC gamer that pay for the games what they want. But enough of my Valve love fest.

If the demo is a taste of things to come, then I’m not overly excited. I know developers always make the point a demo is by far not the released product, but still…it didn’t wow me.

For all the new features, improved AI and promise of advanced ranking systems….something is missing. Something different.

New weapons, such as the saucepan to whallop Zombies are cute. But nothing beyond the Molotovs and pipe bombs?

The demo map seemed hard to navigate and didn’t seem to have the imagination of previous campaigns.

So far it looks nothing more than Left 4 Dead, with the updates it perhaps should have received?

Still, its new content, and Left 4 Dead 2 game servers seem popular so far. If you are interested in renting one, we’re doing them for £9.31 a month, and you’ll be able to switch to the original Left 4 Dead if you get bored.
